get ready higher gas prices
with the explosion in texes of the b.p. refinery, expect a large jump in gas prices most likely today. this refinery supplied 3to5% of gas used in the country. hope the detroit refinery stays on line. |

Re: get ready higher gas prices
oh I certainly hope that does not happen...we are having a ahrd enought time "adjusting" to the last hike...I hope that this does not end up going in the direction of nearing 3 bucks a gallon by mid summer like some are speculating...

Re: get ready higher gas prices
I not sure if we should believe it or not, but on the news broadcast they said this would not effect gas prices.

Re: get ready higher gas prices
I was watching the news this morning and they said that by the beginning of next fall gas prices will have gone up at least $0.50. Ridiculous.

Re: get ready higher gas prices
Today I was debating whether to start riding a bike to work. ( I work at Detroit Metro airport) and then I started researching ethanol fuel which is made in the U.S., is environmentally friendly, and cheaper. We need to stand up against these gas prices, I can barely stay afloat as it is, and alot of people are living week to week. |

Re: get ready higher gas prices
riding a bike is very healthy, and eco friendly. i ride my bike daily in the spring summer and fall, and leave the car in the garage. if the weather were better here, i would consider going without a car. when you look at the cost of car ownership, it makes me wonder why we allow ourselves to rely on this mode of transportation so heavily. |

Re: get ready higher gas prices
This area relies on car so much because of being the "Motor City". Leaders of this area sure didn't think about keeping up the roads for the cars here though did they. For far to long Detroit and the surrounding cities were arrogant to being the Big Three, and became lax. Japan and Germany and others caught the giant sleeping and move in on the turf. Detroit will die a slow death unless we come up with something else. Motown is gone and the Big Three are in big trouble.

Re: get ready higher gas prices
Bring boxing back to Detroit! Detroit is like the weak kid on campus...it allows all the other kids to take everything that once belonged to it. We've lost boxing to Las Vegas, a large market share in the auto industry to foreign nations, motown music to East/West Coast R&B, and techno music to the Europeans. This year we lost hockey to greed. Every year, we lose the Lions to...well...anyone who plays them. The same goes with the Tigers. Heck...the only thing we really have to hold on to right now are the Pistons. And they aren't even technically in Detroit!

Boxing has been dead since Rocky Marciano retired. Floyd Patterson was a joke Sonny Liston took a dive Muhammed Ali was ok, but Rocky would have killed him. Joe Frazier was too slow. George Foreman had a glass chin Mike Tyson was a raipist
