what a crock! Sterling Heights boy 1pound overweight?
I'm , but rules are set for a reason. This boy is 1 pound overweight so he didn't make the team because he didn't meet the rule for weight requirement. Now his civil rights have been violated? How? He failed to meet the requirements, plain and simple. Boy 1 Pound Over Weight Limit Can't Play Football Judge Rules 11-Year-Old Can't Be Reinstated Or Weighed Again POSTED: 9:11 am EDT September 9, 2005 MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- An 11-old Sterling Heights boy will not be allowed to play flag football because he is 1 pound over the weight limit.A Macomb County judge said that Kyle St. Peter cannot be reinstated or weighed again. She also said that the boy will not suffer irreparable harm from enforcement of club rules.Kyle weighed 164 pounds at his first weigh-in on Aug. 2. League rules require participants to weigh 150 pounds or less on the day they pick up their equipment.Kyle dieted and lost 13 pounds by Aug. 14.League officials told Kyle he could play on the club's tackle football team. But the St. Peter family instead filed suit, claiming Kyle's civil rights were violated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Re: what a crock! Sterling Heights boy 1pound overweight?
I read the same story on clickondetroit.com The only problem I see is the parents were so ready to sue that they did not want to here about sport alternatives the club was offering, like tackle football. The rule for wieght was put into the rules for FLag Football for a good reason, and apparently the judge saw fit to side with the sport club rules, which are in place to protect all the participants.

Hmm, just which civil right is being violated by a government agency or unit? Is this Sterling Football Club a governmental unit? If not, how does a private organization violate a civil right? I went to Meijer last night to buy a gallon of milk, but I didn't have enough money. The price was $2, but all I had was $1.99, and so they wouldn't let me have the milk. Should I sue them for violating my civil rights? If I win the suit, does that mean that Meijer has to sell the milk for a penny less than the posted price? And if so, then that means the price is now $1.99. Then, I can come back tomorrow with only $1.98, and repeat the process, until the milk is free and Meijer is out of business. Sigh . . . |

Why didn't you just grab a penny out of the courtesy penny tray next to the cash register? |

You have to take into consideration that 6% sales tax too. So, he would need .13 cents

150 lbs for a 11 year old kid? Someone has to tell the chubby kid to lose the weight if he wants to participate. Who would want this 150lb anchor falling on their 100 lb eleven year old?

In that case you better hope somebody gave a lot of pennies. Either that or go back to your vehicle and start checking the ashtray, cupholders and under the seats for spare change. |

Maybe that's what they are looking for. Maybe someone should look into what insurance policies the parents have on the kid. Morbid but true. |

There was no courtesy penny tray. That's another violation of my civil rights. Some stores have 'em, but Meijer didn't. That's unfair treatment. What's Feiger's number? |

I was going to make a similar comment. Remember the article mentioned that at the beginning of this situation, the kid weighed 164 pounds. |

Re: what a crock! Sterling Heights boy 1pound overweight?
I just think the parents wanted to sue before the whole thing started, they knew there kid was overwieght , they must have XXXXXX the club members off so much to have the club insist on enforcing the wieght rule , even for one pound. They now have to live with the fact that they lost and the kid won't be in sports (in that club) this year |
