Worst time to be President...
I was thinking about this the other day.... With September 11 and Hurricane Katrina, I think it is safe to say that Bush's two terms were worst possible times to serve as President in modern times. What are your thoughts? Here are some other Presidents that I feel have served during the most difficult times for our country.... Abe Lincoln Jimmy Carter FDR |

Re: Worst time to be President...
By far looking at history Abe Lincoln had it the worst. As president he had to declare war on the southern half of the country ( at the time they were an Independant Country the Confederate States of America) The war he fought was worse then any other war our country has faced, it pitted brothers against brothers.

Re: Worst time to be President...
Curious thing about people like you Southside, Bellgreenkid, Sandy, I and others will post facts on here, Like the post I post entitled For you Bellgreenkid, but you guys will never engage in a real Debate of the topic instead you just want to slam and spew forth your one sided views.. Go back and look at every post I have ever written about the Presidency, and you will see I am far from GW's biggest fan, nor did I hate Clinton, see I don't let the agenda of any one party cloud my vision, while many others on here do. I will admit that Clinton wisely stayed out of the economy and let it grow, while most Dems or Librals will in no way shape or form say that GW has done a pretty fair job on the economey in most of the U.S except Michigan which again I say Michigan needs to look within, GW has done an excilent Job on Afganastan, women over there are actually learning to read and right for God sakes. Now his war in Iraq I am not 100% behind, on one hand their were no WMD, but on the other hand your tell me what he was doing or trying to do in all those hidden bunkers many of them with labs in them, Are we to believe he was just trying to figure out a way to keep your rice crispy's, Crispy in Milk?????? On the other hand they had no real exit plan and it is begiining to be a bigger problem. I myself would have simply adapted a new policey for the U.S ( Of course you know the Dems would not have gone for it ) But in my world I would have told Saddom and the rest of the middle East, look you people been killing each other for 3000 years, its none of our business, but we will keep satelites parked over the middle east 24-7 if a WMD from you guys is used on American Soil we will kill 1000 of your people for every American you kill!!! Now go on and keep killing each other, we will get oil from Alaska and the Gulf, and you people can go back to living the lives you had before the evil westerners showed you how to get oil out of the ground. I also would have cut off all secondary education they get here in the U.S all aid, no more Polio or Chicken Pox vacsines or anything.......Untill they themselves got rid of all the bad people!!!! Then we could talk!!! At any rate its a shame people can't step bac from their bias opinions and look at the whole picture, or even Debate things properly its like you give them factual, statement taken from a Political Science book on how the U.S works, but they still see things there way!!!! Kinda sad!! Rocky |

Chime!!!!!!!! Now for a bit of my opinion! If he did such a great job then why is Osama bin Laden not being paraded around in front of every news crew in the world? I'll tell you because he was so intrested in revenge (for the atempted assassination plot against dear old dad) that he pulled troops from Afganastan and focused soley on Iraq, OK I will give that women in Afganastan now have the right to an education, but the job was not done. Chime!!!!!! |

Re: Worst time to be President...
Wow...i was thinking of this the other day (GW Bush...Sh!t hitting the fan), I think he has endured alot of stuff during his presidency. (and he still has 2 and a half years to go) Anyone remember the election debacle? If that was an omen of things to come, we definetly see it now. I say GW has been "unlucky" as far as smoothness of presidency goes.

Why is Bin-Laden running scared? Because we lit a fire under his butt. We've also captured and killed many of his top aids and advisors. This is more than was done during the 8 years he ran around attacking US interests while Clinton was in office.

Congress, as a whole, approved military action in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Is Congress in on the plot to avenge Bush's father, too? And if Bush is at war for personal wealth...tell me...how many oil companies does he own now? Name just one. The answer is NONE. Bush owns no oil companies. And you cannot argue that he is trying to get rich off of other types of investments, because every President has their personal assets invested in what's called a "Blind Trust". It's a legal trust created where professional money managers handle the Presidents personal finances without the President having advanced knowledge of where the money is being invested. Because the President has so much influence and control in the world, it would be unethical for him to invest his own money...therefore this Blind Trust seeks to remove any question of the President's motives for creating policies. But none of this ever matters to the people who buy into the rhetoric.
