FEMA Director is director no more
After sinking the International Arabian Horse Assocation over a decade ago because of his personal lawsuits over disciplinary actions, (and forced to resign from the group because of it), Michael D. Brown, head of FEMA, received lots of poor publicity following Hurricane Katrina recently. Prior to Katrina, Brown admitted to a $12 million dollar discrepancy after giving money to non-hurricane-affected areas in Florida, but blamed the discrepancy on a computer glitch. And the reason he became FEMA Director? Old college roommate and buddy Joe Allbaugh gave it to him. But, back to Katrina: after being asked why so little was being done for the 20,000 or so people in the Superdome a day or so after the Hurricane hit, Brown was quoted as saying that he was unaware of that plight. Others rewarded his foolish statements with, "Do these guys even watch T.V.?" Following that statement on CNN September 1st, Brown criticized those stuck in New Orleans as those who "Chose not to evacuate, who chose not to leave the city" despite the fact that most of the New Orleans population is not an affluent area. Brown also received stark criticism over his poor decisions regarding getting help to the Louisiana area. Five hours after Katrina hit, Brown made a request for Homeland Security rescue workers--but not until they had two days of training (a critical loss of time in such an enormous disaster). Local rescue departments were also told to hold back because Brown feared that he would get into trouble for possibly overstepping local, state, and federal governments. Earlier today, Bush axed Brown from his position as FEMA director, though he is still part of FEMA. His resignation is expected soon. THANK GOD. |

Re: FEMA Director is director no more
Was Brown in charge when 4 hurricanes hit Florida? Bush should have violated States Rights. Declared GOV Draws a Blanco incompetent. Then told Mayor Nagin to stop naggim' and use the Keys for all those busses in his pocket to get people out. Those 2 fools still can't decide if people should be evacuated. Gen. Honore needs to pistol whip the "STUPID " off both Blanco and Nagin. Take control until things are in order.
