Why is it that I never.....
Why is it that I never see the Police running radar or using the laser on Howard Street? I live a couple of houses off of it on University. I constantly hear and see cars racing up and down the street at high rates of speed. Lincoln Park is always looking for ways to raise money, sit a squad car there and make some. This morning I observed a white contractor's van travelling south on Howard at a high rate of speed. This past weekend there were plenty of opportunities, black Mustangs, old pickup trucks, Blazer's, motorcyles, etc. etc. So what about it L.P.P.D?

Re: Why is it that I never.....
I agree, Howard can be like a drag strip, but then again so can Fort Park and Lafayette and most any other residential side street, I always said if they put un unmarked car by the stop sign by my house (especially in the summer) they could make a killing in tickets for people who don't bother stopping...probably would have even prevented some onf the lets see 12-15 accidents on that corner alone in teh past couple of years....And if they got someone on Howard while they are there they would probably thwart off the punks who come and tag Hall Transportation constantly get 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak....

I agree with you Squishie, they would making a killing in tickets there, and at University and Howard. I can't even count the number of cars that turn off University without stopping. I have heard that Fort Park is a dragstrip as well. I have seen vehicles at high rates of speed while driving on Lafayette as well. Granted the streets are a bit wider, but that is for parking, and everyone knows that children, pets and the like step out from between parked cars. There is no way a speeding vehicle is going to avoid hitting a child if one steps out like that. I just pray that doesn't happen to some innocent child, or anyone else for that matter. And I firmly believe that the chances of it happening could be greatly reduced with the presence of a patrol car and an officer willing to catch speeders and wreckless drivers. |

What about River Drive? That street is a madhouse!!!! The Police should be over there often,Esp with the park in the summer and all the kids in the area. I bet they could sit on Mill at the stop sign and write 100 tickets a day. |

Re: Why is it that I never.....
I have mad a comment on a regular basis about the speeding on side street situation. It's the same on Merrill from Fort to Pagel. People sit at the turn around light and as soon as it changes they just floor it along the stretch of Memorial Park. I just hope with a park being there and people running around at times that no-one gets hurt. People are just stupid and careless with regards to speeding in residential area's. |
