Re: "the machine's slate"
The "machine" is something that people blame things on for the failures of our leaders to be leaders and elected officials blame because someone elses idea was better. Let's cut overhead to 56% back a few years ago Sall was accused of having a "machine " and then the real Machine on the City Payroll , the employees . That's how Sochoki got in.

Re: "the machine's slate"
See: Council planned to spend $2 million to move City Hall...without telling a few of the members of council. Sounds like a secret slate to me. Good thing the non-slate members (Brady and Murphy) caught wind of it and blew it wide open. The secret plans have since been scrapped. See also: OMA violations. That's a secret slate in order if I've ever seen one.

Re: "the machine's slate"
I always assumed the Machine was Mr Brown. Next you have Mr Kandes who is Mr Brown's protege. Finally, there is Mr Vaslo who desparately wants to be part of the group. The problem is, he is not a likable man. They put up with him to keep him voting with them, but they would never invite him to a party in their home. Then of course we have Mr Vaslo trying to start up his own personal slate with Ms Cotter and Mr Rutherford

Re: "the machine's slate"
VS how close do you live to the fire Ecorse had .Been breathing fumes. No one ,no machine , no slate can authorize funds to move anything . It requires a vote. If I Buy Your story then The negotiations with Digital Solutions for a NOBID purchase was wrong. Why weren't the rest of the council advised . How do we know they were the best offer . That CH move wasn't new there's been plans been floating around for years of moving CH to Fort ST. DIdn't a judge rule on the meeting complaint? |

Re: "the machine's slate"
All that " Machine" Talk is garbage. All that is a campaign committee that has been going through the motions every 2 years. It becomes routine. Going through the motions time & time again does not make you a politcal giant. It just means you learn the routine from going through the motions. Hardly impressive to me. Same group of ppl for the most part....putting out signs, handing out flyers, working polls.....it's not a machine......IT"S A ROUTINE. Anyone can adapt to a routine if done enough times. My committee is on it's second shift and already things are easier then the first time. Way Way too much hype for a standard committee. |

And what was the name of the young man who was on the Public Safety Commission and voted to look in-house for a new Police Chief and Fire Chief? I've looked at the listing of Public Safety Commissioners and cannot find him listed. |

Yes...it requires four votes, to be precise. My point is that a few members of the council were trying to secretly lobby support for the measure outside of the council meetings...so that when it came time to bring the resolution to the table, the four votes would have already been "in the bag" without having to really worry about selling the issue to the council members who were not in the loop.

This may be, but if you understand the facts of the case then you might disagree with the judges ruling. Other judges disagree with the ruling judges opinion...but that's just how the cookie crumbles I guess. It's not uncommon for judges to rule incorrectly. It happens. In fact, if memory serves...isn't a woman suing the city of Lincoln Park for being found guilty of a crime she didn't commit? If people can be falsely found guilty, then it's only logical to deduce that guilty parties will sometimes be found innocent (OJ, anyone?). The judges ruling does not change the facts. The facts show that an OMA violation occurred. |

OMA complaints, yes. Violations, no. A complaint was investigated by an outside agency and found to be without merit. |
