Fort St. Brewery
Has anyone been to the Brewery lately? I heard they are charging $2.00 extra for take out orders. I called the other day to place a carryout and couldn't even get an employee to take my order. Eventually I hung up and ordered from somewhere else, and that was before I knew of the additional charge for the carryout. |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
Why would you have to pay extra? I can understand if they were delivering it, but they're not. Are they trying to generate revenue?

Re: Fort St. Brewery
A lot of places charge extra for take-out. Apparently, the styrofoam containers cost a lot more than the cost of washing the dishs and glasses used, water used in the restroom by the dine-in customer, etc. |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
You would figure the styrofoam would be cheaper than the plate, labor to wash plate, hot water, detergent etc. I have never, never had a place charge me more, except for a delivery charge. |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
most bars charge extra for take-out, because the mark-up for food items is not compensated by the purchase of alcohol where the mark-up is considerably more...it seems that it should cost less, but the business needs to have butts in the seats to give the impression of business also. it traditionally costs more for take-out in eat-in establishments. we have gotten to the point we take-out so much we have forgotten about eat-in restaurants.... |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
When the brewery first opened, I went and had a delicious fish sandwich and a bowl of beer/cheese soup. Great taste. I went back a few days later, ordered the same thing, and it sucked. Went back a few days after that, ordered the same thing, and it sucked again. I've not been back. I don't know what happened with their food. I'd love to give them more business but I'm rather reluctant at this point. |

I have to recommend the chicken BLT salad with their homemade Ranch dressing. Sometimes I just crave that salad and have to go there.

Re: Fort St. Brewery
I went in there with some friends and we couldn't even get a waitress to wait on us. So, we got up and left. I don't think I would like it anyway. They do not sell any bottled beer. What if you were in there eating and couldn't finish your meal and asked for a take out container, are they going to charge you $2.00 for it????? ![]() |

I have had the burgers and the fish. Both were great. But the last time I was there the service was not so hot I had to leave and go some where else. ![]() |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
I hope I am wrong, but I do not see the Fort Street Brewery lasting more than another year, if that. Besides the service and food problems some have described above (I have not had any problems, although I haven't eaten the food there), when I drive by there late Friday or Saturday night, the place is a ghost town much more often than not. Unless it is bustling a couple of other days during the week, it isn't going to make it. Adding a couple of pool tables might help, but the overall atmosphere is just not Lincoln Park, IMHO. Maybe someday LP will be so sofisticated, but it is far from that now. I hope I am wrong and that FSB is a smashing success for 100 years to come, but I just do not see it happening. Sorry. |

Re: Fort St. Brewery
I think that the no parking on Fort Street this summer has hurt them. If you don't see cars you assume that they aren't busy and don't stop in. Plus, during the summer some people are busy on their boats, going to the art fairs and festivals. I love the Lincoln Lager and the fact that the atmosphere is different. To attract the 20-something/30-something crowd to LP we need to change our thinking. |
