Tigers Opening Day
Today 4/4/05 is the Detroit Tigers season opener. Its nice to see spring and baseball are back. This is one of the nicer opening days we have had in quite awhile. The Tig's are off to a great start, leading 8-1 at the top of the 6th. Bonderman looks real solid, I just hope I didn't jinx them. |

Re: Tigers Opening Day
I was very upset when Alex Sanchez tested positive for steroids yesterday. As we know he is a former Tiger. What is with these steroids? Take a look at Roger Maris and Hank Aaron. Now take a look at Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds. Something is obviously out of whack. The owners had to know something was up. Like Congressman James Bunning (former Tiger pitcher) said during the Congressional Hearings. "You don't start hitting more home runs in your 30s than you did in your 20s" Hank Aaron was CONSISTENT. He never hit more than 40 home runs or so a year. Barry Bonds hits 20 to 30 home runs a year until he is 35 years old and suddenly he is hitting 60 to 70 a year. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on. Balls that used to be in the outfield are now clearing the fences. Darrell Evans hit 40 home runs when he was 40 years old. The most home runs by someone that old. Now these 40 year olds are hitting 50 to 60 home runs a year.

Re: Tigers Opening Day
I had two guys who came to me telling me that they were taking the afternoon off. One in his Outlook meeting notice to my boss and myself stated "I have baseball fever and will be sick this afternoon. My doctor is at Comerica Park." I had to ask the 2nd guy if he had baseball fever as well. |

Re: Tigers Opening Day
I agree, and I hope that the players who have CHEATED pay the price. Funny that only the power numbers have gone up in the "steroid" era. You don't see anyone challenging Ted Williams batting average record (Tony Gwinn had one decent run at it) or anyone coming close to Joe Dimaggio's consecutive hit strike. One player had a little run at it last year, but in the end it wasn't even close! Just in 11-2 Tigers in the bottom of the 8th. Dmitri Young just hit his 3rd HR. hope he isn't tested soon! :-) |

If your referring to my posting, Magoo, these guys in the three departments I support are all management level and get a certain amount of vacation days a year. They also often have meetings as early as 6:30 am and as late as 6 pm. Unless they have a hot meeting to attend to our managers and directors do not care. Today's been pretty quiet with no hot issues so I suspect that these two were not the only two at Ford to decide to go to the game. Besides, they all have text pagers, for me to reach them! |

Ever wonder why cars are so expensive? Because the workers are at ballgames rather than working. Glad to see the Tigers won today. I hope they have a very good season.I was able to catch the tailend of Hank Greenbergs career and followed all of Al Kaline's. I hope the Tigers will someday get a player who has the skills of these two. |

I hope the Tiger do good this year, and get the ball rolling and the Lions follow suit! Rocky. P.S Mr. Magoo it sucks that these Steriod abusers have stolen records from hardworking legitimate players. Of course some people would say that if the Stroids were available to Hank Arron and Ty Cobb they would have used them too, either way it a shame!! |
