LP Gas Station robbed of money intended for storm victims

About 3:15 p.m. Sept. 20, the man grabbed the MERCY-USA Katrina Survivors Fund collection box, which was fastened to the counter, and headed toward the door, according to the police report. The store's cashier locked the door from behind the counter in an effort to lock the man inside the store. But that didn't stop him. The man grabbed a fire extinguisher and threw it at the door, escaping through the hole in the shattered glass. When police arrived, they found some change in the parking lot, along with the collection box.
