Here is why there was no looting in Texas following Hurricane Rita.

Couple of nice guns in that picture. The guys near each corner of the sign, one has either an over/under or side by side shot gun and the other has huge pistol. Now thats what I call neighborhood watch. |

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
I got a chuckle out of the picture, but we must admit the picture is Racist. We know who these Texans intend to shoot and it certainly isn't anyone who lives in their segregated neighborhoods The looting that went on in Baton Rouge was a result of people going without food and water for over 10 days. They looted stores to obtain staples for survival. I don't know about you, but if my family had to go without food or water for 10 days, I would be raiding the 7-11 for food and water. The looting of tv sets and cd players was way over done by the media. It was much more exciting to show a black man carrying a large screen television out of a store, than a black man getting food and water to care for his family. If there is anyone to blame it is FEMA and Mr Bush as well as the Mayor and Governor. Though I see the humor in the picture, I feel we must look deeper to see the real message these Southerners are conveying.

I like the guy on the left of the sign with the big pistol. That's a Ruger Super RedHawk 44 Mag. I have one like it, and if you don't hold yourself just right, it will put you on your butt. |

Is that what it was supposed to be when I saw a picture on channel 4's website of a guy loading 5 "Wild Thing" chain saws into a boat from the front door of the local Home Depot? Let me guess, he was going to use them to cut down trees for firewood to cook the so called food he looted the day before? |

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
It was Ghetto / Project mentality that was behind the looting not someone looking to feed ones family. |

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
From what I gather from Magoo's post. If Magoo woke up in the middle of the night and heard someone downstairs going through his drawers, he would assume it was some lost traveler who was looking for a road map. |

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
I heard today that there was no looting in New Orleans. A police spokes person said "I reject the use of the term "looting," and said authorities were investigating "the possibility of appropriation of nonessential items during the height of Katrina, from businesses." This one is hard to believe but it is true.

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
A big difference to consider is the fact that Nawlins was under feet of water. Most of the population left and were not returning any time soon. In Texas, I suppose most of the people left, but they returned soon after the hurricane passed. It left much less time for looting to get started or to be continued. Certainly the photo is in response to what these Texans witnessed on their TV screnes after Katrina. If it wasn't for that, this photo op would not have taken place. Mr Magoo automatically throws the race-card into the mix. But what does that say of Mr Magoo? The sign reads "looters." Mr Magoo reads that to mean something specifically. What, white people don't loot? Sure they do under the right (or wrong) circumstances.

Re: Why there was no looting in Texas
I am so often amazed at how naive younger people can be. I was stationed in Fort Bragg during the 50s. North Carolina my friends. I personally saw White Only signs all over the town. Believe me, no "colored folk" would have dared to have entered a business with such a sign. No "colored folk" would have dared to use a PUBLIC restroom with such a sign. You say I tossed in the "race card" and I say the race card was being played. Please point out the one non white face in that bunch of "Drunks with Guns" Dispicable. We know how the media manipulates the public. Do you really think the only people looting the electronic stores were Black? Do you really think the only people looting stores for milk and bread were White? I think not. All I was saying was that the vast majority of looting that was going on was from stores where the survivors could obtain food and water. The storeowners were long gone. It had been 10 days since the hurricane. There was NO assistance from the city. NO assistance from the State. NO assistance from FEMA. You people may get a kick out of that picture, but to me the only thing it lacked were the white hoods. |

How can you say that Magoo, not knowing if there just weren't any people of color living in that area. Get off that soap box, it's gonna break. |

Take a look at the last census and they ask yourself how come there are no Hispanics in this picture. You people say I discriminate against women. Why do you people defend "Texans" who discriminate against Blacks and Hispanics? I bet if you looked close you could find a Confederate flag somewhere in that picture |
