Teens need to go to school more
I was told that the kids are out of school today. Is this true? I was also told the kids are out all week. It this true? The education level of our Lincoln Park students will never improve unless they go to class. Sitting at home playing computer games is not going to get them an education. They may learn how to find the "key to the mystic cave" but they will not learn how to add, subtract, multiply and divide. I wrote in another thread about Teachers getting too much time off. Here is just another example of Teachers not teaching. No wonder the MEAP scores are a scandal. The kids don't go to school enough to learn anything.

Re: Teens need to go to school more
Come on now Mr.Magoo, it really seems as if you may be a bit jealous that you didnt have a spring break back in the "olden days" The kids are out all week (Oh Shame on us all we are doomed!) but I bet not all kids are home stuck to their video games and computers Maybe that is the problem with some older adults...too much time indoors playing with their computers...Maybe we should have some mandatory senior classes for them...like classes that aid in teaching patience, tolerance, and kindness ? just a thought

Come on Mr. Magoo, did you not have a Spring or Easter Break when you were in school? Oh, wait, maybe not, but then again you are probably like my grandpa, walked to school, 10 miles, uphill both ways, in knee to waist deep snow, in the middle of July, right?

Magoo you would be really upset to know many of them are going to Hawaii for spring break. Must be nice huh??!

Re: Teens need to go to school more
No they did not have Spring Break when I was in school. Absolutely not. We were off for Thanksgiving (and Friday), Christmas through New Years, Good Friday (only),Memorial Day (only) We went to school and we learned. We learned how to make change. We did not rely on the cash register to do our thinking. We did our own thinking. And yes I did walk to school. No it was not 10 miles, but I walked. These kids nowadays are driven to school even if they live a few blocks away. RIDICULOUS!!! Teens nowadays are not outside enough to toughen their bodies up to the cold weather. They need to stay indoors because they cannot keep warm outside. |

Kids or not, they need to receive a proper education. They cannot be educated by not going to school. |

Re: Teens need to go to school more
Mr.Magoo you need to settle down. You complain far too much and frankly it is arrogant and annoying. I dont care how it was when you were younger, those times are gone. Live with how times are now. We are out this week, yes and it has nothing to do with MEAP scores. I have no idea why you insist on bringing the MEAP scores up when I have already explained to you about 20 times why they do not measure the intelligence and potential of the students at LPHS. It is just a test. A test that half the students do not take because they are either too lazy or do not think it is worth it. A test that is going to be eliminated next year. A test that cant possibly measure everything we have learned in the past years. Quit being so grumpy...its rather annoying.

If these issues really bothered you that much you would get off your computer chair and try to change it. |
