DTE owes $1,078.900.85 in back taxes to City of LP
According to the figures I could find. Detroit Edison (now DTE) owes $311,925.17 MichCon (now DTE) owes\ $697,225.33 This comes to a total of $1,078.900.85 It was said the unpaid Personal Property Taxes comes to $2.5 million dollars. DTE owes almost half This has been accumulating since 2002. Who knows how much is owed prior to 2002? Oh yeah, a collection agency would get 20%. This would come to $215,780.16. Pretty good payday for a company that is the only bidder. And how much would the ADMINISTRATIVE FEE come to?

Maybe we all should include in a nice little note 'please pay Lincoln Park what you owe' with our monthly payment to them! If only 3% of Lincoln Park's 40,000 residents did this then it would be 1200 people and maybe they'd notice!!! |

I do my payments online. There aren't any comment sections. I will agree, when you are late, they don't hesitate to mail you a past due or shut off notice.

I have an idea, and it has worked before. Councilman Higgens had this idea just a year or two ago when he couldn't get DTE to fix some street lights. He threatened that LP would not pay the electric bill until someone came to fix the streetlights, and within a very short time, the lights were fixed. Rather than threaten, LP should not pay its gas and electric bill until they use $1,078,900.82 worth of utilities! |

This tread jogs my memory...can anyone find out what the current tax records show for the Tire Warehouse on Dix? I recall the K&M tire business missing a couple 2000/1 Tax payments to the city, I'm sure that never got paid...thanks in advance! |
