Disanto says ENOUGH from our Contractors
Councilman Disanto stated that something has got to be down about contractors who do work on sewers, pipes, electrical, etc. to force them to CLEAN up the messes that they make. This is an ongoing problem with any of the contractors and policy needs to be made.

Have you called DTE? I would not take this lying down if I was you. The LP businessman has to take a lot of abuse. There is absolutely no reason why a businessman or a resident has to accept something like this. I hope they plan on returning once the weather breaks, but I would call and get an estimated return date. Please remember that Councilman Mario DiSanto always looking out for the best interest of the local businesman and resident

Re: Disanto says ENOUGH from our Contractors
Here's the problem cities have with contractors Typically a city will require bond money, of which part of the money is to make sure they clean up their mess The problem is that the amount of the bond is usually not enough Why? These contractors know it's usually cheaper for them to walk away from the job leaving their mess because it would cost them more to finish than the amount of bond money being held But, there is a way to fix their boat In the city I work for I had the $$$ amount changed on the bond specifically to an amount of what it may cost to finish up a job (it's typically a certain % of a job) So far it's worked out well for us When we can't get a contractor to fix up the remaining portion of a job we call in a contractor that we've had past success with Perhaps our city should look into this Works like a charm |

Re: Disanto says ENOUGH from our Contractors
The issue is not the bid bonds . the problem is with the public utilities. MichCon and Edison. They don't put in bids for work they come in and do what they need to do . It's a simple matter of Steve Bown or Valarie Bady as liason to DPS, to contact DTE. As representatives of the residents they need to request a meeting with our DTE representative and address the problems . Either DTE cleans it up Or we charge DTE for having our DPS correct the problems. We have had problems like this in the past . The mayor and a councilmember Handled the public utility on the political level and resolved the weed problem.
