3Mil Road millage will be on November 2005 Ballot
Mayor Brown states that they cannot call this 3mil Road Street Repair & Replacement a renewal so when we see it on the ballot the word renewal will not be there. This millage will be for 3.00 per 1,000 of your SEV value. All funds for roads has been exhausted (e.g. CDBG, grants, etc.) and this renewal er new 3mil road millage is needed to repair some of the roads. have been used for the roads. Asphalt overlay will cost about $800k versus cement which could cost about $1.8million. Vote was 6-1 Murphy votes no because of the asphalt overlay is a bandaid and money will be wasted.

Re: 3Mil Road millage will be on November 2005 Ballot
What does asphalt overlay got to do with the millage? The resolution is to ask to place the Millage question on the ballot. This allows the city to renew the old millage with an increase of a fraction. It says nothing about using concrete or asphalt. Remember, the original Millage was 3 mills. The Hedley Amendment pushed it back to 2.67 or sometihng like that

Re: 3Mil Road millage will be on November 2005 Ballot
Councilman DeSanto made a tongue in cheek remark during the debate in last night's council meeting saying something like, "Why don't we just try and get 20 mills approved so we can put concrete on all the streets that need repaired". I know he was joking but I'd vote for it, if it were put on the ballot. The roads are terrible. They were all built about the same time and most of them are original. Therefore, most of them are crumbling about the same time. |

I will most likely vote for the Millage. I do not have any faith in the present council to spend the money correctly. They screwed things up big time this year. Hopefully by 2007 we will have some new blood on the council that can spend the Millage money wisely and not wait until September to start a road repair program. |

I have a question about this proposal: Is there an expiration date or does it go on and on and on? (I did no't pick up an expiration date/ period when watching the meeting.) |

what I'd like to know is in light of Murphy voting AGAINST putting this on the ballot, is he also encouraging people to vote AGAINST it when it's on teh ballot? |
