Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
Last night the council voted to approve another $4,000 in construction costs to move the Community Improvement Department from the 2nd to 3rd floor. This brings the cost to a total (so far) of $32,000. Not a single member of the council questioned this cost. Not Kandes, DiSanto, Higgins, Murphy, Vaslo or Brady. Mayor Brown did not question the extra cost either. $32,000 for office space? How many people work in that department? Does this include renovations to Duchane's Office? How about Brown's? I wonder if this office renovation project will end up costing the taxpayer more than the Council Point Park Restroom? Is the city still pinching pennies? Apparently not.

Re: Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
When Mayor Gish first became mayor, he moved the Mayor's Office from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor. You want to know how much it cost the taxpayer? NOTHING!! Mayor Gish had the desk and chair moved to the 1st floor. He did not need to put up walls. He did not need to build a "testament to his greatness" I am always astounded by the Appointees we now have in this city. They want to move their office and the city spends $32,000 to move them. Unbelievable.

This moving up and down and maybe next door or across the street is ridiculous at this time. $32,000.00 could be put to much better use.

Re: Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
For the record Councilman Michael Higgins questioned and looked into what he was told. We get our packet friday which gives you time to check on things like this. So everyone here knows the had to change how the heat was in the new office . They are all most done and will be a big inprovement to what we have now. We also had to put in a door to be complaint with cith bilding code. There were also some other things all of which I felt will make city hall work better and thats why I voted yea.. |

Re: Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
I for one would love to have one of our elected officials have someone explain why it cost the taxpayers, $32,000 to move an office from one floor to another. Are they building an extention on the building or something? I could possibly understand $3,200 for a move, but no one will I understand $32,000. They moving an office or a Royal Court? |

Re: Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
MIke, I appreciate you giving us some additional information, but I really don't see anything listed that is required or should not have been included in the $28,000 original estimate. You telling me no one realized they had to move the time clock before this week? Carpeting was not part of the original $28,000 estimate? Painting the hallway was not part of the original $28,000 estimate? Sorry, but I do not see how moving ONE office from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor could cost more than $3 to $5 Thousand TOPS. I have not seen the plans, but I have to guess there are a lot of extras that are just not needed. |

Re: Construction on Community Improvement Office goes up up up
not to mention, if they had to ad things to comply with city code, weren't the specifications looked at by city officials to make sure the bid specs were up to code?? |
