Underprivileged Anyway - Barbara Bush
The last I heard the reverend George W. Bush had refused offers of international aid to help with relief effort following Hurricane Katrina. He turned down offers of assistance from Germany and Venezuela as soon as they were made – so the story goes. Apparently Pastor Bush hasn’t been as honest with the American people as he has led many of them to believe or he didn’t have any concept of what was going on in his own country. As of this writing the United States government has requested aid from Europe and NATO. The Vatican is preparing to coordinate Catholic aid. The president of Jefferson Parish in Louisiana had this to say, “We have been abandoned by our own country.” Great Britain is sending 500,000 military ration packs. Over the past 2 decades British companies have extracted tens of billions of dollars from Louisiana in oil and gas. Germany and Italy prepared military shipments of their own that can help alleviate the crisis. The United States, which is occupying Iraq and Afghanistan, has requested blankets, first-aid kits, water trucks and food. Condoleezza Rice, who was raised in Alabama stated, "Nobody, especially the president, would have left people unattended on the basis of race." The response to Ms. Rice : Truly, many times in history people have been slaughtered based on race. In this case it seems that some people were left unattended on the basis of race, but the vast majority were left unattended on the basis of income and wealth. Barbara Bush, former first lady and mother of the President said that the relocation for those Americans forced out of Louisiana is "working very well" in Texas. She said many of the people at the Astrodome were "underprivileged anyway." There is no response for Ms. Bush. |

Re: Underprivileged Anyway - Barbara Bush
Are people really holding something that Bush's mother said against him? Give me a break. If we're playing this game, then let's talk about Bill Clinton's brother...convicted of selling cocaine. I'll even raise you one...let's talk about how Billy-boy granted his brother (along with over 100 others) a federal pardon for his crimes just a few hours before he left office. Lucky for all of you, I retained this following article from the New York Times:

Ah, ya gotta love the news media. Thanks for posting that article VS, can you imagine if the president who did that was president Bush, the media would have a field day with it, and we'd still be hearing about it. (this is the first I've heard about this, musta been burried) It's very devistating what happend in the Gulf Coast, I truly don't believe anyone thought it would be this bad. Not to mention the size of the area affected was enormous. |

Re: Underprivileged Anyway - Barbara Bush
BellGreenKid has just made a fool out of himself/herself... World aid offers pour in State Department: Nobody has been told 'no thanks' WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Offers of aid and assistance from around the world for victims of Hurricane Katrina continue to pour into the U.S. State Department. So far 94 countries and international organizations have offered aid, according to a State Department spokesman Tuesday. Full Story... http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/06/in...lows/index.html Oh, and by the way, the nation of Kuwait has donated $500 Million dollars, and as of today (9/7) this is the single largest donation to the Hurricain releif. |

Fox news put a big whole in this story. Bill O. and the "no spin zone" showed how ridiculous this story was. I think France offered us some cots. How big of them.

Re: Underprivileged Anyway - Barbara Bush
I don;t think it is fair to hold Mrs. Bush's comments against her son. Nor is it fair to hold Roger Clinton against Bill Clinton. That being said I think the difference between a Bill Clinton and GW Bush handling this situation or any other for that matter, is that BC experienced being on the lower rungs of the economic ladder. GWB has never been poor. BC may be a millionaire now but I bet he can relate to poor people having been there himself. GWB was born into privelege. That is why I think that we get what we get when we elect people born with silver spoons. They have NO CLUE about being poor or middle class in America. Rant Concluded.
