Mr Vaslo brings up a good point
RE Tax Collection Bids: If a large portion is uncollectible due to statute, and the other large portion is locked up in a lawsuit, what do we need a collection agency for? Lets ride it out until November and elect a treasurer who will collect the tax... UUps...looks like it passed anyway. What a waste of money.

Yes you are right Southside...I didn't specify that. When I posted this I was only referring to the opening of the bids. Another concern I had was going to be that opening this bid would be unfair to the buisiness who submitted it, because any subsequent bidders would have the knowlege of thier bid and they'd be at a disadvantage...but then I also realized that this bid was the only one to come in, postmarked today no less, when there was no vote to go OUT for bids and even if there was, this was not a bid, it was a contract, HOT AND READY to GO! Boy oh boy. They must think we're stupid. |

If the bulk of the owed taxes are from DTE, then it shouldn't be too hard for the ELECTED Treasurer to collect the rest.

I must of missed something. Vaslo seemed really angry that this resolution did not pass. I didn't catch where he was in favor of letting this resolution fail. In fact, he voted for it. |

I'm saying that the points he brought up, pointed logically towards NOT doing this..but yes, you're right, he seemed for it. I'm confused by his logic...but the point he brought up made me think from a different angle on why it's a dumb idea to try and do this rite now. |
