The Howard Street Race Way
For those people drag racing up and down Howard Street, beware, you might meet up with a baseball or two. I am so sick of these idots that think they can race up and down that street. The black 80-90 something Mustang whoe owner resides on University was the worst offender this weekend. The old pickup truck that insists on smoking the tires everytime he takes off, crotch rokets, loud Harleys, the list goes on and on. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 15 MPH not 115!!! There were several cars racing by after dark. Really smart moroons, what happens if some kid is riding a bike out there and you hit them? I am all for car racing, but IN THE RIGHT VENUE and HOWARD STREET is NOT, I REPEAT NOT, the right venue. Go to Milan, or to one of the other several tracks in Michigan and quit racing near my house.

Hit them once for me!!!! I live on Emmons ans its the same way!! last summer my buddy brought one of those portable radar guns over and we clocked a number of cars cruising at 40 down Emmons and one police car doing 37 and another doing 35 I 'd like to see a few more stop signs on Emmons maybe it would slow it down some. Try road tacks. I hear those work well. ![]()

Re: The Howard Street Race Way
they added speed bumps to all the roads at my fla. home. that really slowed people down, 3 or more speed bumps for a 1 block long road, the posted speed is 15 there, and for the most part, its obeyed. dont know if it would work here though, people here are used to hitting bumps. |

Waterford Hills in Waterford Mi. Nice place, lotsa fun... http://www.waterfordhills.com/ oh, TACKS, not tracks ![]() Last weekend the wife and I were sitting in the front room and heard a truck heading up Howard. Next thing I hear is a loud crunch. I look out the window, and half of a tree from my neighbor's yard is lying in the road. A TNT Hollander truck hit it, and broke a large chunk of it off. The tree is located AFTER the No Commercial Trucks Allowed sign. I wonder if he got a ticket. I know my neighbor lost the tree, because the next day, there was a city crew out there cutting the rest of it down. Who is paying for that? And the loss of the shade and natural beauty of the tree itself? |

OK, I took another look. South of Cicotte it is 15 mph, north is 25 mph. But, again last night, and even this morning, I saw a white contractors van flying south, from the north side as I crossed over Howard on my way to work. It has to stop before someone gets hurt. |

Re: The Howard Street Race Way
You should call the Police Department and report the constant speeders, I am sure they will be glad to help you out. As a former Police Officer myself, I know that on every department are officers that enjoy writing tickets and someone just needs to point the way to a good cherry patch for them to harvest. No one knows you have cherry patch ripe for harvest unless you tell them.

Well, I for one would praise them endlessly if they could curb the speeding problem. It may be too small a problem for them now, but if someone is injured due to a speeding vehicle there, and they could have prevented it...that could be come a large issue. I do not think I am asking for the world. Just a small place free from irresponsible drivers. The Police have the proper tools to fix the problem. If I try to fix the problem I would be branded a vigilante, and while that is no so bad to me, it could cause problems I do not need. |
