Treasurer election article in News Herald

Jason Alley of the News Herald has an article about the upcoming election for Treasurer. It can be found on page 8-A of the News Herald.

Excellently written as always, Mr Alley gives us some background on both candidates for Treasurer.

I noticed that Mr Sochocki would not return phone calls or e-mails. How will this man deal with trying to get back taxes from businesses if he is afraid to talk to a mild manner reporter?

Ms Patricia Lulko is quoted as saying "The office needs someone steady there. They need someone who can have regular business hours and will be there for the citizens when they need to be. The city trained me for 26 years and gave me a lot of knowledge and I'd like to give that back to the residents."

Re: Treasurer election article in News Herald

I read this article and found one thing interesting.

Sochocki is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Lulko "attended" Henry Ford Community College. Are politicians still using the old chestnut of "attending" When politicians do not have higher education, they will use the tired phrase of "attended" This could mean anything from attending a one day seminar to have taken several classes.

I thought after the Gloria and Mike Schermesser scandal that politicians realized they could no longer get away with saying they "attended" this school or that school.

I visited Harvard one time on vacation. I think I will put on my resume that I "attended" Harvard.

Lulko says she wants to "give back" to the residents of LP. Heck she collected a paycheck for doing nothing for 26 years. Looks like she is feeling a little bit guilty in her old age.

Why the heck would the city have hired a non-degreed person to be Director of Personnel and Purchasing?

What am I saying, they hired a non-degreed person to be City Manager.

I visited Harvard, Yale, Princeton and BRown. Wow, I guess I could say I attended those schools too.

Alley isn't capable of writing an objective article.
And considering the number of times Alley & the News Herald twisted and shaped their articles to make Sochocki look bad, if I were him I wouldn't return their calls either.

Is not Lulko the one who could not get the figures together ( From Purchasing ) on time for the anual Budget ? If She could not do her job then, how can she do it as the Treasurer now ?

So does McPartlin and so did Mandernach and Paddock and Heyer and Gish

I do not like Lulko one bit, but I have a hard time understanding why she should be banned from running for office because she collects her pension.

If I was making the money she and the other make, I would not want to put up with the headache of running for office. I hear she ran only because she wanted to stick it to Sochocki. She didn't care about winning, just wanted the opportunity to stick it to him one last time.

CAll the women who actually work in the treasurer's office. I'm told they recruited Pat to run because they were uncomfortable with the two other candidates possibly being their new boss. Having worked with Pat before in City Hall, they liked that possibility better.

Thank you Wolverine. We could do without Flash's irresponsible speculations.
