Hurricane Rita Upgraded to Category 5
This is a very bad year for our south coastline....... The news reporter just said that Rita has been upgraded to a Caegory 5 and is expected to hit around Galveston, Tx. I would think that poor Louisiana is going to get some of this. I feel bad for the people trying to live through this. God Bless them.

I' take snow over a hurricane any time. Hopefully some lessons were learned from Katrina and lives will be saved.

I can't even imagine what its like to go through what those people have been through. When I think how I complain about the A/C going out or the washer breaking down I'm ashamed of myself, from now on when I start to complain about somthing so stupid I'll try to think of them and count my blessings. |

Re: Hurricane Rita Upgraded to Category 5
A Category 5 hurricane hitting Galveston 's sea wall could be the same as New Orleans. The sea wall can only handle waves under 17 FT and the city is built on a sandbar . Authorities in Texas say they have activated their plan they have had for years and will cover Galveston down to Corpus Christi .. With Ophelia and Rita it's starting to look like N.C.,S.C.,FLA. ,MISS. ALA,and TX. all have working plans. Florida was hit with 4 hurricanes last year. There are 5 refineries shut down in Texas Fill your gas tanks before the price goes up,again. I paid $2 45 yesterday.

Re: Hurricane Rita Upgraded to Category 5
Rita is listed as the 3rd strongest Hurricane in recorded history. But why are these storms more frequent, starting earlier, and increasing in intensity? Global Warming... We've been talking about global warming for years, I believe we are now seeing the results of that. I was watching FOXNEWS earlier and they, just like every other media outlet is already starting the propaganda about gas prices hit $5.00/gal. Interesting though how gas prices never should have reached what they did after Katrina. It's alleged that OIL should have been going for about $95 a barrel to reach the prices they were. And why are the gas prices now affected by hurricanes? This is not something new, I don't remeber gas prices being so in line with storms/hurricanes. |
