How will this effect Crime in Lincoln Park
I was talking to a couple of old friends who are Detroit police officers. They were recently transferred to what was the old 4th Precinct. After roll call they were pulled to the side by the Inspector. They were told to stay out of Southwest Detroit unless another police car is in the area. There is real concern about being caught in Southwest Detroit when the drawbridge is up. They were told if they receive call, to stay on the northside of the drawbridge until another car can cross the bridge with them to back them up. This part of Detroit was always of concern to the Detroit Police. It was always unofficial policy not to get yourself into a problem unless there was another car in the area. Now apparently they are telling the officers not to even go into the area unless there is another car around. They were also told of certain streets to avoid and to only drive down them when another car is within sight of them. What do you think it will be like once the election is over they Detroit lays off cops? According to the budget, they should have laid them off months ago, but only because of the election are they still around. How do you think this effects the north end of LP? If you think it has no effect then ya better get back to smoking whatever it is you've been smoking.

Re: How will this effect Crime in Lincoln Park
I'd like to know what our City Leaders can do in reference to the lack of police presence across Outer Drive. Can they contact Wayne County and ask if they can patrol since Detroit don't care? Can State start patoling Fort St at least? I doubt very much if Detroit is going to be in the least bit concern for any crime that may over fill into our neighborhoods due to the lack of police presence in SW Detroit.

They must be talking about the Visger area. That is a messed-up area. The north-end ends at Southfield Rd, not Outer Drive anymore.

This sounds like something Ilona Varga should be asked about. Can't they use I-75 to access the area.

Remember a couple of years ago all the controversy over the Drag Racing? Why was there no Detroit cops in the area? This huge crowd in the middle of Fort street and no cops. All these people knew about it that it drew this huge crowd, but no Detroit cops. No matter what we may say about the cops in LP, I doubt a crowd like that could gatherin LP and the cops not be aware of it. Same with Detroit. They knew about it, the drag race had become part of a routine schedule. It was a Saturday night. Detroit cops are stretched thin. The most they could have sent to the area was two cars. There was concern about the situation getting out of hand and nobody available to back them up. Thus they let the drag race go on. The LP cops were there. Two cars. They made sure the race did not take place in LP. The race and resulting accident happened in Detroit. Although they had no jurisdiction, the LP cops responded. Because they responded they got tied into the thing. Had they sat on the border, they probably would never have been part of the lawsuit. Things have only gotten worse with DPD since that incident. |

It is a violation of department policy to publicly endorse a candidate. I know of some police officers who happened to get in the picture when Archer was running for mayor the first time. They were disciplined and probably would have gotten a lot worse if Archer had not ended up winning. Ella made a commercial where she endorsed Kawme. I guess policy doesn't mean anything when you are the chief. |

That area has been "annexed" by L.P. to Detroit some time ago. In other words, an extension of Detroit's ghettos. |

Re: How will this effect Crime in Lincoln Park
I heard today that Phoenix and two other metropolitan cities are heavily recruiting the Detroit Police Officers. Those who are about to be laid off are leaving in droves. Here is how Kwame's people currently use their smoke and mirrors. Two Precincts combine. The Mayor's Office annouces there are as many cars in the Precinct as before. Reality. The Fourth Precinct ran with 5 cars and the Third Precinct ran with 5 cars. The Fourth and Third are combined as just the Third Precinct. There are still 5 cars in the Precinct, but now the Precinct is double the size it was previously. If you are wondering where all the police cars are in Southwest Detroit (between the Rouge drawbridge and Outer Drive), they are patrolling the now expanded Third Precinct. As I said in the first post, they are not about to drive over the draw bridge without at least one other car to back them up. If two enter that area, the rest of the Precinct has only 3 cars left. Watch for a dramatic increase in crime in Detroit in the coming months. Southwest Detroit from the drawbridge to Outer Drive will be one of the highest. You still think that will not effect Lincoln Park? Oh Yeah. Recently Kwame got rid of most of the Commanders. He brought in his own Commanders. A judge said the Old Commanders are still in charge. Kwame says the New Commanders are in charge. The cop on the street has no idea who to take orders from. As a result, no orders are being given. |

Here are some shots of Detroit. Note the "911 is a joke" graffitied onto the building in the first shot. In the last picture you will see a tire in a sewer. All the manhole covers have been stolen and sold for scrap. The neighbors have placed old tires in the sewer openings. |

Re: How will this effect Crime in Lincoln Park
When dayshift came on duty this morning at the Third Precinct, they were running behind by 140 calls. That One Hundred and Forty calls in one precinct alone. How much confidence does that inspire when an officer comes to a home two weeks after the initial call. And in LP we complain because the police may have a problem responding to non emergency calls during shift change. |

From what I know, the Rouge drawbridges on Fort St and the one on Jefferson do not open at night. So this shoots a hole in the theory, at least for 10-12 hours (during the higher crime times). |

I did not say anything about the number of cars in that area. I just merely made an observation that the drawbridge never opens at night. Awfully defensive Dondiego, aren't we? |
