New Dog Tag Fees
The Council approved new dog tag fees tonight. These higher fees are much needed by the City Clerk's Office. I think having safe street where we do not have to worry about rabbied dogs is well worth the higher fee, don't you? $8 a tag 61 and youngs. $6 a tag 62 and over $5 replacement of lost tags. Thank you Ms Breeding for a job well done. Enjoy Safe Streets!!!

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
I have a question about the dogs. When I move here to LP 8 years ago we had a spaniel and she had a license the first year here. Soon after she went to live with my sister in law in Wyandotte. Now she is coming back to us, does anyone know what I need to do to get her another tag?

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
How is a higher fee protecting you from rabid dogs? If anything the higher fee will deter people from even getting a license. Why the $3 increase per dog? Thats over 50% increase! The original purpose of Dog licenses was to protect the public, now they are being used as a pawn to make the city some quick cash. I had my dogs licensed and I am glad I will not have to again. The license cost more then the rabies shot! Why not license cats then???????? They can get rabies too! and it may help with the strays! |

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
Oh and Robbie you have to take her current rabies cert from the vets up to the city hall, if she does not have one then you have to get a new shot, but at her age I would not recommend it. Rabies or any shots are serious business and can kill a elderly dog. It puts a lot of damage on their immune system. Licenses should not be required on elderly dogs, sick/weak dogs or puppies under a year. Do your own research, the vets will tell you whatever makes them a buck. All vaccs should only be given to healthy, robust dogs, no sick, weak, or elderly. |

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
Many cities license cats. However, the animal control people in these cities are not interested in chasing cats like they are dogs. Where did you get that rabies shot? I just paid $77 for the shots for my dog at that Friends of Lincoln Park Animals vaccination clinic. The ala carte option on the vaccinations, including the rabies, was $16.00 each. So, if you got the rabies shot less than the cost of the license than that was a great deal. |

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
Seems to me there is more reason to tag a cat than a dog. I have a few neighbors that have cats and let them roam all over. It always seems to me they come by my house and spray and you know what else. I'd like to plink them in the but with a BB, but it's against the law. |

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
I agree Robbie I see far more cats roaming the streets and cousing problems then I do with dogs, I think cats, especially the ones peopel intentionally let out should be tagged...I sure wish Ms. Breeding would get on the ball about getting these cats off the streets and out of our yards and trash.... And BTW usually each year in April or May a clinic comes to the ice arena in Rouge and gives free (or what you choose to donate)rabies vaccines to dogs, cats, etc...You do not have to be a rouge resident or meet income guidelines...though there is usually a pretty long wait in line. I will try to contact the place to see when they are supposed to be this way again and share the info with anyone intrested

Re: New Dog Tag Fees
I do my dogs vaccs myself, they cost 1-3 dollars each that way. I order them from a vet supply company, the same place vets get theirs from. Vets and shelters buy them for that much and increase the price to make a profit, they make 90% of their profit is off of vaccs and meds plus the crappy science diet they try to push on you. $77 dollars for a rabies shot is insane! I dont remember what vet I went to last when I had them done at a vets, but it was around $15 (last year) Most of the vaccs vets "sell" you are a waste of time and money, not to mention they do damage on your dogs immune system and cause cancer/immune disorders, allergies, ect. Then your dog keeps getting sick and keeps coming back to the vet, never ending cycle and the vets know it, it keeps them in business. A lot of the diseases for the vaccs they recommend are unheard of in this region or day and age. Kennel cough is a waste too, its like the flu shot for us, the strains mutate every year and the vacc does not include this years strain. I only do parvo and distemper and rabies at one year of age. I will include the link to what protocol I follow. Great Danes along with a lot of other breeds are sensitive to vaccines and have a high risk of a reaction. My one guy got over vaccinated and has been sick ever since. He has a weak immune system now and is skin and bones no matter how much he eats and he is totally depressed, its a very said sight and it all could have been avoided. Vets never mention the side effects of vaccines to you and if you ask they play it down. To often the side effects are worse then the disease your vaccinating against. You can also get a teiter test done, it counts what immunities your dog has enough of so you dont have to get unneeded vaccines. The only vet in the area I recommend is Willowood Acres First Veterinary Clinic I dont remember the specific doctors name, but he is the owner, go to him, he is great. I been to several other vets in the area and was unhappy with their prices and service. 29490 Sibley Rd Romulus, MI 48174-9250 Phone: (734) 753-4424 Here are some great articles and links http://www.doglogic.com/vaccination.htm The vaccination protocol I follow http://www.doglogic.com/vaccineinfo.htm http://www.canismajor.com/dog/vacci01.html http://truthaboutvaccines.org/articles.html This one has a lot of good articles! http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/vac.html This one has a video of a vaccine reaction happening http://www.kvvet.com/KVVet/assets/h....asp?URLCheck=1 This is where I buy my own vaccines, you can request a catalog and it will come every month. |
