Residents go to podium Meeting August 29 2005
Two Residents seperately went to podium to discuss a taxing notice from Wayne County Treasurer on their (662 & 666) Park Ave properties that were taken by the City of Lincoln Park in error. The county or the city (according to legal advised the first resident) had no right to take their properties to begin with. Finally the properties were placed back into the correct owners name BUT now they have tax bills that represent over 54% (first resident) and 47% (second resident) of the tax amounts due in 2004; not to mention huge water bills from City of LP; tickes for growth in alley, etc. Another resident brought evidence from the Wayne County treasurer that it was the City of Lincoln Park who gave the amounts owed to Wayne County Treasurer; City of LP took the property for the taxes; gave the amounts due and the interest and penalities AND removed her homestead. She said that she has left messages with the LP Assessor with no return calls. She further states that if M&C tell her to contact him again, she is going to tell them to contact her attorney. Resident; Mr. B ( couldn't hear the name) he lives on Markese and is upset over all the rats; which is a) he has the only in ground pool b) the rats are coming from another home on Markese with very large weeds, grass and debris. He states that the city told him that they can't set traps, poison, etc. due to liability issues. Councilwoman Brady states that special licensings for pesticides are required and city employees don't have the certifications. City hires a company for that type of service. Clint Riley brought up the prostitute problem that has been discussed here in the forums. He pointed out that our LPPD are strapped pretty think, many of our experiences officers took the ERI; but something has to be done when prostitutes walk up to people in broad daylight and solicit. He states that he has the utmost respect for our police offices and knows that they are few these days. Still something has to be done. Mayor Brown states that something like this must be caught in action or during a decoy situation. Clint states that something has to be done before it gets worse and it will hurt the image of our community. He says that obviously she wasn't afraid of being arrested, they are afraid of Detroit; of Dearborn but apparantly not of Lincoln Park. Councilman Kandes asked where he sees these people: North End of Dix and Fort Street and moving closer to Southfield. Mayor Brown stated that he will get with the Chief of Police on this matter. Mr. Kudrick wanted to tell everyone how much he enjoyed Lincoln Park Days and how it seemed that everyone around was enjoying it also. He wanted to say about the media policy that several people could call the news and give their versions of issues and that this policy may hinder the communication to the community. Mrs. (didn't catch her name) went to the podium to give a special thanks to Trinity (Cab service) for donating rides for seniors so they could visit the LP Days. KUDOS!!! I am expecially fond of any business or person that takes time out for a senior. Have you hugged a Senior today?

Re: Residents go to podium Meeting August 29 2005
Mr Kudrick suggested LP cops should look at "non lethal" methods to subdue criminals. (Didn't Budzyn and Nevers try that with Malice Greene several years ago?) Perhaps Mr Kudick would like to see our police officers carry pea shooters and a bag of spit wads. Apparently Mr Kudrick can't comprehend the shooting was a justified shooting. The perpetrator had a gun and would have shot and killed the officers if they had not fired as accurately as they did. Anyone willing to shoot a armed police officer would have no problem shooting an unarmed citizen. The insurance company's decision to pay off the family was a "business decision" They believed it was cheaper to throw some money at a problem and make it go away than to spend the money on lawyers in a court room. If Mr Kudrick ever has someone breaking into his house, I wonder if he will ask the cops to leave their guns at the station.

RIGHT ON DON! The cops are always the bad guys until you want one to protect you! I suppose it would have been OK if this criminal got a couple shots off and wonded, or killed one of the officers who was trying to get him off the streets!
