Barking dog
I need some help! Someone new moved into my neighborhood, and they let their VERY BIG, VERY LOUD barking dog out at crazy hours of the morning (3:30AM, 5:30AM, sometimes 7AM). I tried talking to them (thought it was the neighborly thing to do), but they don't care. What can I do? Thanks! |

There is an ordinance against noise, so I bet this could fall under that. I would call the police the next time it happens and ask them. They may transfer you to the ordinance officer or the animal control officer, but at least once there's a record of it, maybe something can be done. |

Yes, call the police. Maybe they will issue them a barking ticket. |

Re: Barking dog
You know what, A few weeks ago we had a problem like this (dog barking). After a few days of being woke up early in the morning, my wife called the police. I left early for work that day, and my wife left for the morning as well...so we do not know if a police officer or ordinance officer came to the neighbor's house. Or maybe just a phone call was made to the neighbor by the LPPD. Either way, the problem stopped. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it has been 3-4 weeks and we haven't heard a peep, so we are happy. |

Re: Barking dog
Another nuisence not related to dogs but noise is when friends or guest of neighbors insist on blowing the horn on their vehicle instead of getting out of the car and knocking on the door. I hate that. Now, when I hear a horn, I ignor it. I keep thinking one day someone will be blowing on their horn because of a fire or other situation, and I will be ignoring it. Oh well, there will always be rude people. If I was living in the country with neighbors down the road instead of right next to me, I would probally complain that their cows are mooing to loud.

Re: Barking dog
I used to have that problem until my neighbor moved. Barking all night long and the police would come out, no one would answer the door so they left doing nothing. I took a piece of bread and made a big ball of peanut butter and stuffed it in the bread. Went out to the fence and gave it to them times 2, one for each dog. Kept them quiet the rest of the night.

Re: Barking dog
I wish someone knew the answer to barking dogs. The owners aren't bother by it so they won't stop it. Animal Control is available only a few hours out of the day. I think thats why there is such a problem with barking dogs. |

Re: Barking dog
You can contact the LPPD and make a complaint. The Ord that you will site will be 666.04 Which states (5) Animals and birds. The keeping of any animal or bird which, by causing frequent or long continued noise, disturbs the comfort or repose of persons in the vicinity; Among many other things. But this should help you. |

Re: Barking dog
You could always be like my wonderfull nieghbors and drug the dogs, of course come feburary when they are freezing and they bark from 3:00am til 6:00am then that's another story. Of course the wonderful nieghbors have a scanner and we think they also have a tranq gun cause the dogs quit barking when the cops come to the door.

Re: Barking dog
The owner and the dog? or just the Owner? I don't think either one is a good idea . A $100 ticket for disturbing the would be better. There is a limit on loud noise at 11:00 PM at night. A civil suit would take time but the threat of $500-$1000 lawsuit may put a muzzle on it...
