DiSanto for safer streets
We have had a lot of discussions on these forums regarding crime in the city of Lincoln Park. I would like to point out that Councilman Mario DiSanto is the only member of council who asked tough questions of Wayne County Commissioner Ilona Varga. At a City Council Meeting, Ms Varga stated that prostitution had virtually been eliminated in the Fort and Outer Drive area. Councilman Mario DiSanto was not about to let this go by. He started shooting questions at her that left her stammering and red faced. Do any of you believe Prostitution is a thing of the past in the Fort and Outer Drive area? If you do, I suggest you drive by the area. But watch it when you stop for a red light. That "lady" coming up to your car is no carhop bringing you your A&W Root Beer. I see Councilman Mario DiSanto finishing no less than 2nd in the November General Election. I do hope he accepts the Liaison to the Public Safety Commission. I believe Councilman Mario DiSanto is the man who could light a fire under the snoozing Public Safety Commission and the unorganized Lincoln Park Police Department. I for one am tired of hearing about the rising crime rate in Lincoln Park. I for one am tired of hearing residents coming to the podium weeks after week to complain about slow response times of the police department. Councilman Mario DiSanto is the man we can rely on to solve this problem. We witnessed how downhill the DPS has become since he no longer serves as Liaison. I hope you give one of your six votes to Councilman Mario DiSanto come November. If you want a safer Lincoln Park, vote DiSanto.

Even if prostitution was virtually eliminated, if the police do not maintain a presence, it will soon return. This isn't the type of crime that just ends, after all it is the oldest proffesion on earth. |

Re: DiSanto for safer streets
Mr Magoo's shameless campaigning is one thing, but I do remember DiSanto jumping on Varga about the prostitution problem. And I do remember her saying it has been cleaned up. I almost fell off my chair. I wondered what world she was living in.

I travel down Fort all the time. I have never seen a hooker in LP, just in Detroit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Mr. DiSanto might be the one for safer streets, but Mr. Vaslo is the man with the plan. |

You are so right Jane. If he won a bid for rep, we would be so much better here in LP without him. |

Mr. DaSanto is probably very familiar with prostitution. After all, he is a politician or at least thinks he is. |

When he did run, he was soundly defeated by Gloria Schermesser of all people. If he runs next year, he would have to face Mr Clemente. Plus Mr Vaslo has NO VOTER BASE in Allen Park, Melvindale, Ecorse or River Rouge. Mr Vaslo can barely get elected to the council in LP. I can imagine how badly he would be defeated if he went head to head with Mr Clemente. |

Mr. Vaslo will have no problem getting re-elected. Will Disanto make it should be the question. |

Has VAslo told anyone he's running for state rep? When he was defeated by Schermesser that was before word got out that she lied about a college degree, that was before people knew she wasn't who she said she was. Magoo, how do you know with certainty that Vaslo or anyone else for that matter has no voter base in AP, Melvindale, Ecorse or Rouge? By the way, Clemente doesn't have that many fans. In the 2003 election, DiSanto came in 6th, he barely got elected. In the 2005 primary, DiSanto came in 5th. DiSAnto doesn't seem to be the preferred candidate except in your mind. |

Mr Clemente does not have that many fans? I guess I do not have to watch any comedy shows today. That gave me a good laugh. What could top it? |

Re: DiSanto for safer streets
remember, magoo, Di Santo barely squeaked in a council seat in the 2003 election - 6th place. In this recent primary, he placed 5th. It's been said on this site that Clemente hasn't been that supportive of the downriver area since being elected. What helped him initially was name recognition. WE'll see how he does the next time around. I hardly think Vaslo has any interest in running for state rep although Don Diego seems to think he knows that he will. |

Re: DiSanto for safer streets
Councilman Mario DiSanto finished ahead of Mr Vaslo in the recent Primary. I think we both agree he will finish ahead of Mr Vaslo in the General Election. In fact, I expect to see at least a 2nd place finish by Councilman Mario DiSanto. Even I have heard rumors of Mr Vaslo wanting to run for State Rep. It is one of the least kept secrets in this city. From what I have observed, Mr Vaslo has a huge ego. But I think his 6th place finish in the Primary may have brought him back to reality |
