Lincoln Park History ... Online?
Other than the blurb on the official LP website and http://www.hsmichigan.org/lincolnpark/histsoc.php, is there any other website that has the history of LP on it? What I'm getting at, is I think it would be really cool if all, or most, or even some of the historical items from the Lincoln Park Historical Museum in the form of photos, scanned documents and written text could be found online. Maybe even a way for people to submit items (scanned photos, documents, editorials, etc.) electronically online that could be reviewed and added to the online collection. Leslie? What do you think?

I had put in a couple of calls to the lady over at the museum (her name escapes me right now). I wanted to pick her brain on LP History and help them with this website. I never got a return phone call and getting there duing their opening hours has been difficult.

Actually the Lincoln Park Historical Museum and the Downriver Genealogical Society have a webpage/site on Rootsweb. http://www.rootsweb.com/~midrgs/drgs.htm You can access the Lincoln Park Historical Society here. I have already talked to Julie Sadlowski, Administrative Assistant to Duchane, Mayor & Council about utilizing the photo's we've been scanning for the city website. Hamtramck's website has a wonderful link to their historical commission that contains old photo's. Julie loves this idea. Muriel Lobb, Museum Director, is in favor of the idea too and said that the historical commission would be flattered if we got the photo's on the city website. There is also another site that has historical information on Wayne County that we could at some point submit information on Lincoln Park. They have no information on the history of Ecorse Township. Some other cities historical societies have hooked up with their libraries in putting historical photo's and information on the web. This is a very time consuming project scanning photo's and writing the text for the book. Once the project is complete we will be in a better position to get photo's on the city site and other websites! Rubberarm if your interested in assisting with the Arcadia Book project we could really use your help in writing the captions! |
