The Treasurer for the City of Lincoln Park is an elected two year position with elections occurring on odd numbered years. The Treasurer's Office responsibilities include:
Shall be the ex officio tax collector and shall perform collection duties, including the filing of cases in Small Claims and/or District Court for collection of delinquent personal property taxes.
Shall have custody of all moneys, bonds, notes, leases and evidences of value belonging to the city.
Shall receive all moneys belonging to and receivable by the corporation and keep an account of all receipts and expenditures thereof.
Preparation of all bills, statements, monthly notices and reports, and shall appear in District and/or Circuit Court as the official agent for the City of Lincoln Park, duly authorized to act on it's behalf.
All payments made to the City of Lincoln Park are paid at the Treasurer's Office
At the end of each business day, the money collected is reconciled and then deposited into the appropriate fund. Presently, the city of Lincoln Park has 15 different funds.
This office is also responsible for the City, School, and County Tax collection.
Name changes are processed throughout the year and tax bills are mailed twice a year. As funds are collected, the Treasurer's office distributes the amounts to the appropriate entity.
The paid tax receipts are posted using the Equalizer Software that is connected to Wayne County.
Every month of March the delinquent property tax rolls are sent to Wayne County to collect. The treasurer's office is responsible for the collection process of the delinquent personal property tax.
