A young gal went to the podium and talked about what a threat pitbulls are in this city.

I have started many threads in the past about this and every time people would write "pitbulls are fun loving" "pitbulls are kind dogs" "pitbulls are so gentle and lovable"

NONSENSE!!

Pitbulls are very very dangerous. As I have stated in the past, they should be destroyed, each and everyone of them.

Where you find pitbulls you find pitbull fights.

hickeyebil, you can try and spin it anyway you want, and laugh it off as you will. I don't consider Pitbulls a threat to LP, but I do consider them a threat to children. The problem that I have is that if one gets off the leash or out of the yard, there is a very good chance that they will harm someone. Do what you want on your own property, but when they come onto my property and threaten me and my family, then we have issues (and yes this happened to me).

Pitbulls are a fine breed. No different that any other breed.
The problem is that people train them to be mean, aggressive and fighters. The people are the problem. Any breed of dog, whether it be a poodle, chihuahua or great dane can be made vicious and aggressive. It's a shame that pitbulls have gotten such a bad rap. It's the irresponsible owners of pitbulls who should be locked up.

I have to admit i really do worry about my kids when they are out playng and if i see a pit bull that is not on a leash my first reaction is to always make my kids come in or get in the yard and away from the dog, I have that reaction with any dog in general, but pit bulls have such a strong bite. But in my opinion it comes down to the owners, a dog is only as mean as you make them, but with pits you really dont want to chance it their bite is so powerful.
I have a chiwawa (sp) and let me tell you if he were bigger he would be dangerous he has been known to snap, and when i have kids over because he is getting old i dont trust him, he has to go outside or in his cage.

Any normal, stable, intelligent, animal-loving person who has ever owned a Staffordshire Terrier (one of the proper names for pitbulls) knows they are a very intelligent, loyal, fun-loving companion. They do NOT have an innate propensity toward being aggressive. They do NOT have any deep down instinct. Pit bulls, are one of the most dangerous dogs around.

I recently read on article on clickondetroit.com that was also featured on channel 4 news, about a pit bull that bit a kid on a bike. all reports say the kid did nothing but ride his bike past the house, the dog charged off the porch, and grabbed the kids arms, and legs.
Also my wifes grandmother watched in horro as a pit bull in lincoln park, leaped over a fence and attacked a little girl who was carring a little dog in her arms, it is pretty scary knowing that that dog is still allowed to live.
I saw the blood stain on the sidewalk (on Cleveland near laffette)
Ban that species of dog.
It is bred for one thing, and that is combat, nothing more nothing less.

If pitbulls are dangerous, it is because of the OWNER.
Only the owner. Pitbulls are not born mean.

Pitbulls bred by "normal" animal lovers are normal dogs.

Pitbulls bred by "abnormal" people can be aggressive.

They are not just bred for combat.

If a pitbull is on the loose and he is aggressive, he may attack someone. If a pitbull is on the loose and he's a family pet, he won't attack someone. Unfortunately, he may get shot just because he was born a pitbull.

The breed was made for one purpose is incorrect. The breed is a terrier and long ago in England they were used to flush out rabbits just as most terrier breeds were used for.
It's ignorant, low-class, ghetto-types that have chosen that breed to use as fighting dogs. It's a real shame. Because what's happened is that dogs gets hurt and killed and so do humans. Who knows, in the future the breed of choice for dogfighters may switch to cocker spaniels or dachshunds.

I hear you, jeyhey. Pitbulls and Rots may be listed as the most dangerous breeds. But, you're not hearing what I'm saying - those breeds are not inherently mean and aggressive. Humans make them that way. They are not born like that. They are normal dogs. So if humans choose to make pitbulls and rots mean for their own selfish reasons such as to dogfight, then they would in many instances be considered dangerous. I hope you understand what I'm saying this time.
Feel free to hound me if you don't think I'm answering what your questions, instead of having the need to defend a council person who hides behind her supporters and thinks she doesn't have to answer questions posed to her.
