Noted Accounts Payable -- Kaminski Fees? Meeting September 19 2005
When reviewing the warrant amounts in tonight's meeting, Councilwoman Brady asked what some of the legal fees were. City Attorney Ed Zelenak stated that the one was a slip and fall (under the deductable), one was the Kaminski Case. Councilwoman Brady asked if this was a settlement (Kaminiski) because council had not been notified. EZ stated that this was not the settlement and that if settled, the Council would be notified. My Comment: This is rumor only but it's been going around that the Kaminski Vs Mayor Brown and Vs City of Lincoln of Lincoln Park was settled a couple of weeks ago. At this point who knows.

Wasn't there a thread about this on here a few weeks ago about a story in the newspaper that said the suit had been settled. I think it happened quite some time ago. |

There was a story in the News Herald a couple of weeks ago about the settlement. It is no rumor, it is fact. Both parties are not allowed to talk about the settlement, but Mr Kaminski did receive a settlement. Expect Mr Kaminski to be moving out of LP soon. He could even become my neighbor. But whatever his final destination, you can be sure he will leave that Lincoln Park bungalo behind.

I had been updated on the Kaminski lawsuit ....that was not a huge concern of mine. The other law suits -- which we have not seen anything on until approving the settlement amounts concern me. If there are 6 lawsuits and I have only been updated on one........someone needs to get working. Mayor and Council should be kept informed prior to approving the funds. |

Isn't this the fault of Ed Z? Not keeping M/C informed? Isn't it his duty?

The August 28th edition of the News Herald has a story on page 5-A. The headlines read "Lawsuit with former sergeant settled for an undisclosed sum" Here is a quote "Attorneys for the city and Kaminski recently agreed on a settlement amount, keeping the matter from going to trial. A confidentiality clause was built into the agreement; however, keeping both sides from talking about the dollar amount settled upon." It further stated "In the suit, Kaminski alledged that he was denied a promotion after heading an investigation in 2003 that resulted in the mayor's father-in-law, Quentin Brasili, being convicted of second degree criminal sexual conduct." And then "After that, Kaminski said, he was unjustly overlooked for promotions." Kaminski's attorney was quoted as saying "The city altered its normal procedures for promoting and appointing their officers to certain positions, just because Sgt Kaminski did his job and investigated the mayor's father-in-law." The city's attorney is quoted as saying "Everything in that lawsuit is plainly contrary to the facts." "The decision to hold off on appointing a deputy chief was made purely as a cost savings move and was done before the city officials even knew that Kaminski was due for a promotion." "In years past, the city twice offered Kaminski a promotion, but his own union rejected the city's offer."

What was the case of the former city emplyee suing the city .according to what we were told last night that was alsoone of the settlements we just paid . What was the employee suing for and what department did they work in and who were they . No one was talking about that wsounded like a separate deductible charge from kaminski and the slip and fall.

Zelanak said the amounts were the deductible we pay for lawsuits there were 3-4 mentioned . Kaminsky ,a slip and fall and a former employee suing the city. Who was the other former employee suing the city. Was the employee the one that was fired on medical leave of absents, or an employee taking the ERI.> |

Ms. Brady, you've been finding the time to reply to select topics. Why are the questions asking you about your views on the future of downtown LP being ignored? Some of your followers claim you are very, very busy. If you're that busy, how do you find the time to respond to some posts, but not others? This is baffling. |
