What is your "strange" state in the union?
What is your "strange" state in the union? Is there any peculiar state that has an "air" about it? For instance, W.Virginia is a strange state. I swear that state in some areas is 50-100 years behind civilization. Another state is Texas. Can't really explain what it is but has an air about it. California is quite literally and figuratively "the land of the fruits and nuts". Massachusetts is another "strange" state.(or maybe it is just Boston) It reeks of Yuppiedom.

Re: What is your "strange" state in the union?
I do not like Texas or Ohio. I was never too thrilled about North Carolina. When I was stationed there it was very very segregated. Black soldiers were not allowed to eat in White Only restaurants or get hair cuts or be in other businesses that were for Whites. I grew up in a world where Hawaii and Alaska were not States. After 45 years I still find it hard to remember these two are actually states. I think there are less people in the Dakota's than in the city of Detroit. I think their biggest city is about the size of Taylor.

Re: What is your "strange" state in the union?
Last time I went through West Virginia I stopped in this little town and asked a guy where there nearest ATM was He had no idea what an ATM was I had to explain He said, "Oh, you mean an OWL" That's what they call it He wanted to know where we were from I told him just outside of Detroit He wanted to know if it was anything like the movies After talking to him for a few minutes I found out he'd never been away from this little town in the mountains in West Virginia Thought the experience was kinda interesting |

Re: What is your "strange" state in the union?
I think Ohio has to be the worse state to drive thru with their cops lurking in the strangest places. Nothing to really look at while driving thru the state either. I've heard that North Dakota is the most boring state there is. Both Tennessee and Wisconsin are beautiful states to drive thru both in the winter and summer. However, in Tennessee they have vending machines in the strangest places. Outside of churches, on the side of the road where there is nothing else around, etc.

Why Arizona? I like Arizona. It is trully one of the last "wild frontier" states besides Alaska and Montana (perhaps). |

I have close relatives who moved there about 15 years ago and I think that the heat has fried their brains or their bodies have been snatched by aliens. |

Re: What is your "strange" state in the union?
Strange State no question as to the strangest. The Land of Fruits ,Nuts, and Hollywood. CALIFORNIA is number #1. Followed by New Jersey. West Virginia. It's not a state ,but the District of Columbia ,Washington D.C. seems to attract a large group of wierdos. It's like a magnet for every kind of wacko you can think of. It is like the national headquarters or convention center for Looney Tunes We can put in a new CD or DVD,but the same music or picture keeps being played, and it never gets better.

Re: What is your "strange" state in the union?
I can't think of any strange state. I love in this order - Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York State and Arizona! I don't like Florida but I wouldn't say it is strange. Arizona I find very beautiful. New York State has many interesting small towns, andirandock mountains, Erie Canal and Watkins Glen. Pennsylvania is beautiful in the fall and full of interesting old buildings and homes! I've lived in three of the above states. I love the south Jersey shore too! |

Gallup is weird. Albuquerque has a high crime rate. It's like the Detroit of the southwest. |
