Mr. Higgins, commissions available
Can you list what commissions have openings? I have a sudden urge to seriously look into one.

Re: Mr. Higgins, commissions available
After Brown's show of vindictiveness tonight, who would want to serve on a commission? Who would want to put up with the politics to serve with no pay? Who would want to spend their free time trying to do some good for the city when you have a man who goes out of his way to humiliate you. No wonder the commissions have a hard time filling seats. People are fed up with Brown and the rest of them.

Re: Mr. Higgins, commissions available
Can someone explain the requirements to be on a commission? The city site says you have to be a 'qualified elector' but what does 'qualified' mean? There's a rumor that you can only be on one board or commission but we have people that are on more than one. Someone clarify. |

Re: Mr. Higgins, commissions available
A qualified elector is someone who is qualified to register to vote. They do not have to be registered, only qualified to register. This means they must be a resident of LP and a US Citizen. Which is the same qualifications to be an elected official in Lincoln Park. I believe the only commission that has real qualifications is the dangerous building board. They want someone with construction experience (electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc.) Basically they need someone with the background to determine if a building or house is in sound condition. |

Re: Mr. Higgins, commissions available
After no response from Mr. Higgins I would hope he doesn't mention this in his comments at the council meetings anymore. |

Re: Mr. Higgins, commissions available
It is not surprising that Community Improvement needs commissioners. I hear they rarely have enough member show up to form a quorum. Compensation? zzzzzzzzz If I lived in Lincoln Park I would ask to be on either the Historical Commission or the Senior Commission.

However, someone could serve on the Historical Commission and the Senior Commission if they so desired and if the council appointed them. |
