Sears shopping center
I was at Sears yesterday and it seems to me that the strip mall attatched to it looks worse and worse everytime I go by it. Are there any plans to give it a face lift in the near future? I hate to see such a central part of Lincoln Park look so bad. |

Re: Sears shopping center
Jay I don't know the answer to that, but you are right that area does need some TLC. I was at the museum yesterday and they have picture of Sear Shopping Center when it forst opened. Does anyone besides me remember the covered walkway that was in the parking lot?

Re: Sears shopping center
What can the city do to bring businesses back into the Sears Plaza. I notice more and more empty stores everytime I goto the CHinese Resteraunt. See if the city could talk MJR into using the former Star Theatre 8, or if Star would move out of taylor and back into the movie house. I would go to it if it had a clean reputable movie company using it. Not some fly by night 1.00 show that does not know what a mop is for. If all of these businesses are leaving because the Plaza owner charges to much to lease talk to the owners about helping the city out by lowering their lease rates. |

Re: Sears shopping center
This isn't the only shopping center struggling. We were in Taylor yesterday and noticed a couple of strip centers mostly empty where the owners were remodeling to attract more stores. |

Re: Sears shopping center
Has anyone noticed the beautiful development on the site of the former Veterans Hospital at the intersection of Outer Drive and Southfield? It's beautiful. Great addition to Allen Park's tax base. Notice that all the buildings have a consistent architectural style to them? That makes the complex look wonderful. I think businesses flock to shopping centers that look good. If I were a business, I wouldn't necessarily flock to Sears Shopping Center because it looks mish-mashed in architectural style. Actually, there is no architectural style there. |

Re: Sears shopping center
Rumor has it that the owners of the Sears shopping center are waiting for more vacancy's so that they can redevelop the shopping center with a new layout and additional anchor stores like Kohl's. |

Robbie - I feel the same as you. (Actually, I feel jealous that AP got this complex and LP didn't.) |

Re: Sears shopping center
I just wonder how they are filling up all those buildings in no time at all. It seems as if they are already spoken for before they are built. Got to be one **** of a developer to bring in all those names. |

Re: Sears shopping center
I love Kohls. That would definetely be conveniant. There are tons of empty stores. That corner where the old movie theatre is looks disgusting. Plus the huge eyesore of the old F & M on the corner of the mall. Im sure another store could use it for something. Walgreens or CVS. Something. The parking lot isnt all that great either.

Oh yeah Robbie I remember something being said on that. I was really surprised when I got my tabs at the S of S in Allen Park. This was one one the offices that were to close. |

I have to go tonight to get plates for my trailer, I need to take it north this weekend. That's $75 right there. I usually go to the one in Wyandotte. |

I agree. But we're not going to get any of this unless we attract a younger crowd. See post #89 on page 9 of this thread for details: http://yourlincolnpark.com/LPSF...68183#post68183
