Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
It's 30 stores in the state. The store behind Sears may go and the employees with seniority given jobs at a remaining store in the area. Any chnges are at least 6 months away ,at yhe earliest. WalMart and Meijer's has been too much competition for the Greater Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company ,the parent company of Farmer Jack..

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
Looks like Council President Kandes will end up with an empty building on Fort and Champaign anyways. The company stuck it to the union workers and now the scabs are going to get theirs as well. You can bet the executives will still be out on the golf links this summer.

It doesn't matter to me. In my opinion they can close that Food Basic at Champaign. Nothing but rude people working there. I refuse to go in there anymore. Been in there 6 times atleast and each time I was treated like crap.

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
Like I said last year, Meijers will kill Farmer Jacks on Emmons it will sit Empty and and lower all of the property values of the houses behind it and the buildings down the street in either direction. This is what happens when you have people with no foresite running things!! Well maybe now Steve Duchane will have an oportunity to shine!! If he can talk someone big like bed bath and beyond, Montana Steak house, Office Depot, Family funland ( like Jeepers Creepers ), Costcos, or knock it all down and put in a strip Mall or and outlit mall, Nike, Bose, Tommy Hilfinger, Outlit Malls bring people from 100's of miles around to spend their money, bottom line we need to bring money from outside the community into L.P there are very few of us buiness's in L.P that attract people from more than 5 to 10 miles, in order to be sucessfull we need to increase this as a City. I'd like to see the entire shopping area at Emmons and Fort torn down and have a developer come in and do something similar to the shopping center on Fort & Northline in Southgate That looks really sharp and would do wonders for our city |

Yeah Texas Roadhouse is the best. Has anybody tried Carrabba's Italian Grill? I love this place and would like one here in LP.

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
I hope they leave some Farmer Jack's alone, they don't get the new products as early as Kroger, but their meat is by far better than any other grocery store or meat market. Their beef is aged. I do a lot of comparison shopping and their prices I think are the best. |

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
Logans, ,Texas Roadhouse . That's not how you generate new business . people can go to Taylor or Southgate. People in Lincoln Park need to find business that isn't close by. Ruth Christ's Steakhouse is what needs to be built. the closest one is Troy. To grow the city needs to have a franchise or chain that no one else has and people will come and eat and shop. We have enougjh grocery, party store , gas station, oil change, auto repair, type business. Will Duchane find them maybe . Will he wine and dine them to get their business no. Narrow minded personal agenda driven old school ,nitwit local politicians past and present would slam the door on it . Because they lack the vision it takes to find a new direction for the future of the city. The minute a councilmember has an idea they don't comprehend or like they want them off the council . They have enough people listen to them and the future of this city falls into the porcelean doorway that spins clockwise and follows the sanitary sewerline to the waste treatment facility. It will take Duchane and at least one or two more CM's ten years to turn things around. Duchane won't accomplish anything, too many don't want him to.hey only want him to fix the financial problems so they can get back to business as usual. JMO Famer Jack is the least of this cities problems. |

All you folks that like franchise eateries and big box grocery. You have to think outside of the box and foster a nurturing environment for small business –“shop Lincoln park” |

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
I was only commenting that Logans is grotesque and I prefer Texas Roadhouse. As far as new businesses, yes. That is why I have been emailing tons of "outside of the box" places over the passed 6 months along with some of the other moderators. Will that do any good? Probably not so much. But if we're persistant, and they see the market that is here...who knows. Anything is possible. |

Re: Farmer Jack & Food Basics Stores For Sale
I agree. people are to mall oriented. Big Mall ,Little Mall , Strip Mall One new restaurant . like Joe's Crab Shack or Ruth Christ's Steakhouse to attract foot traffic along with the Brew Pub. Add a Bakery, Craft stores. Music & media, will survive and attract more small businesses . |
