Two contracts were awarded by mayor/council tonight.

1. A three year contract was awarded to True Gree for Vegetation and Weed Elimination. Their bid was for $9,100 a year.

Question? Are they the best bidder or just the lowest bidder. Keep an eye on our parks this year and we will get our answer.

2. A contract was awarded to Johnson LIthograph for the Happenings Brochure. Didn't hear an amount announced. I know the bid was based on the number of pages for the brochure.

Question: Do we really need to spend money for extra pages by including a Message from both the Mayor and City Manager? Can't just one of them do it or at least keep their messages to one page total?

Why do they need to put a statement in the brochure anyway. They can use the media if it is a priority or the State of the City Address. I don't see anything Recreational about their comments.

Show me a pol[tician that can say it all on half -a-page though, and they would get my Vote for sure.

I was told that Mayor Sochocki began the message from the Mayor page. It was one of Mayor Sochocki's many ideas to get closer to the public (i.e., Coffee with the Mayor, etc.)

I was also told the "Council President" Steve Brown was 100% against a Mayor's message. Said it was a waste of taxpayer money.

Odd how once he becomes mayor, that not only is Mr Brown for this page, but now he is taking up another page for the City Manager.

Ahhhh politics.
